Lachen – Rire – Laugh is “self-portrait through the eyes and the perception of others”. Antonia Baehr asked her friends and family to compose “scores of laughter” centred on the act of laughing, and not on the desire to be funny. On stage, she interprets these protean scripts. Through their multiplication, she gradually alienates herself from her own laughter and, in so doing, from one of the main aspects of her identity. Comedy is not the aim, but contagion is an unavoidable side effect. A game of distorting mirrors, aimed at distorting laughter.
