The Modified Toy Orchestra is an experimental music group from Birmingham, England, that uses instruments out of circuit bending sound making devices, such as old toy keyboards, educational spelling toys or even Barbie dolls.
The founder of the group, Brian Duffy, started modifying toys ten years ago, while hunting for unusual sounds to sample. Inspired by John Cage and Buckminster Fuller, Duffy experimented for several years with song structures. In 2006 he formed the Modified Toy Orchestra. The group has since released two records and toured in Europe.
