Thomas K�ner has researched sound for 10 years. Today he broadens his reach by collaborating with cinematographers, performers and other artists. This approach adds visual elements to his sounds. Already present at the BBI in 1999, he is one of the three contest winners in this year's edition. The installation Banlieue du Vide consists of four videos of surveillance footage collected on the Internet. The images show deserted areas, changing ever so slightly, evoking feelings of erosion and disappearance. The accompanying sound, conceived by Tomas K�ner, gloriously praises emptiness.
