Paris

The forbidden room is a theme that comes up again and again in many fairy-tales, in almost all societies ; in Blue-beard in France, Mr. Fox in Britain, the Brothers Grimm in Germany, even in Asian, African and South American stories. For this video installation, Rebecca Bournigault filmed four narrators, each of a different nationality, all of which recount their local version of this forbidden room. At the key moment during the narrative, each person filmed gets their head cut off. Rebecca Bournigault is one of the winners of the 2005 BBI creation contest.
La chambre interdite is a production of the BBI, carried out thanks to a contribution of the Canton Fribourg to the culture. With the support of Fondation Nestl pour lArt and DRAC Ile-de-France.
