King Kong on the Bloody Beaches of Civilisation (Castle Europe II)

Schauplatz International

Erlach

Schauplatz International went to the south of Spain to film their remake of King Kong. Why King Kong ? Because of the mixed reactions, the controversy he breeds. Because he is as fascinating as he is scary. Why the south of Spain ? Because, according to many Europeans, here is where one of Europes greatest menace lands : illegal refugees from the African continent. Starting from there, Schauplatz International investigates with their cameras. Little by little it becomes their quest. Instead of finding answers, their various encounters with local fishermen, the Virgin Mary, European hippies or the ghosts of these refugees generate new questions. But mostly, what arrises is a deep discomfort which they share with us by presenting and performing their film. . . All this, of course, flecked with irony.
